The Muskegon Lumberjacks followed through on their need to continue a win streak against visiting Green Bay on Friday as the Clark Cup Playoffs fast approach.

Muskegon topped the Gamblers, 5-2 after tallying a four-goal third period for its third-straight win.

The Lumberjacks started hot in the first 90 seconds of the game with Joey Larson netting his 28th goal of the season on helpers from Jacob Braccini and Jack Williams.

Williams had a three-point night and jump-started Muskegon’s offense back up in the third period with a quick goal just 51 seconds in. Nathan McBrayer followed up with a goal less than two minutes later and the Lumberjacks led, 3-1.

Jacob Guevin posted his 40th assist of the season on the McBrayer goal.

Tyler Dunbar put Muskegon up 4-1 and Owen Mehlenbacker gave his team a 5-1 lead with five minutes left in the contest.

Green Bay neutralized Muskegon through the first and second periods and managed a 1-1 tie off of a Cameron Lund goal early in the second.

Muskegon defense came through backed by goalie Aleksander Kuleshov who posted 19 saves in the first two periods and finished with 25 on the night. The win was Kueshov’s third straight and is now 12-4 this season.

The third-place Lumberjacks (28-17-3-3) will again face last-place Green Bay on Saturday for a 7:10 puck drop.
