PORTAGE –The Mona Shores girls co-op lacrosse team fell to a tough Portage Northern team by a score of 17-7 on Tuesday evening.
Playing in the rain, the Sailors managed to battle back from a 9-2 halftime deficit to come within four. However, a couple of defensive breakdowns would shut down the momentum and leave the Sailors trailing.
Lauren Nelson led the way with three goals, while Reese Smith and Elana Kass added two goals and one goal respectively.
Goalkeeper Claire Schend had a career night with 16 saves.
Mona Shores will host #4 ranked Division 2 Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Saturday morning.
