MUSKEGON—Five area girls softball teams, fresh off district championships, will be looking to advance in regional action on Saturday.

In Division 1, the Grand Haven Buccaneers will travel to Jenison High School to take on the Rockford Rams at 10 a.m.

The Bucs advanced to the regionals by defeating Reeths-Puffer 7-3 in their district championship game last weekend. Grand Haven comes in with a 25-15 record while Rockford advanced to the regionals by beating Lowell 11-1 to claim their district championship

Both teams are from the OK-Red.

In Division 2, the Grant Tigers captured a district title with a 3-2 victory over Ludington. It was the first district championship for the Tigers in 20 years.

Grant will venture up north to Gaylord to take on the Escanaba Eskymos, who come in on the heels of winning a district championship over Sault Ste. Marie, 16-0, last week.

Grant is from the Central States Athletic Association while Escanaba competes in the Great Northern UP Conference. The game is set for 11 a.m. at Gaylord Varsity Softball Field.

In Division 3, the area will be represented by two teams, Hart and Ravenna, both from the West Michigan Conference.

Hart will travel to Clare to take on the Evart Wildcats at Brookwood Athletic Complex at noon.

The Pirates advanced to the regionals after getting by Manistee 15-4 to win their district championship last Saturday.

Evart got by LeRoy Pine River 3-0 to advance to the regionals. The Wildcats are members of the Highland Conference.

The Ravenna Bulldogs will host a regional and take on the Saranac Redskins from the Central Michigan Athletic Conference at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Ravenna claimed a district championship last weekend by cruising past Montague 13-3 while Saranac beat Olivet 5-2 to advance to the regionals.

In Division, 4 the Pentwater Falcons will travel to Holton to take on Lake Leelanau St. Mary in regional action.

The Falcons advanced to the regionals after getting by state-ranked Holton 4-0 to win a district championship last weekend.

The Eagles, an independent, advanced to the regionals by defeating Suttons Bay 14-13.
