MUSKEGON–The Mason County Eastern Cardinals claimed both the boys and girls cross country titles in the White Varsity Division on Saturday at the Oakridge Invitational held at Oakridge high school.

In the boys division MCE finished with 30 points. Following the Cardinals was North Muskegon with 41 points, Muskegon Catholic Central with 50 points and Hesperia with 114 points.

Mason County Eastern senior Nathan Wing took top individual honors finishing with a time of 17:28. North Muskegon senior Jude Meldrum-Roy finished in the runner-up position with a time of 18:19 and his teammate junior Evan Atkinson-Miller came in third place with a time of 18:26.

Other top finishers included Alex Tyndall (MCE), Luke Niedzielski (MCE), Owen Lyonnais (MCC), Jacob Lyonnais (MCC), Peter Hybza (MCE), Parker Maciejewski (North Muskegon) and Jules Roussel (MCC)

Sophomore Andrew Sherburn was the top finisher for Hesperia coming in at the 17th spot.

In the girls division MCE finished with a team score of 23 points while Muskegon Catholic Central tallied 36 points.

Mason County Eastern sophomore Lucy Shoup took top individual honors finishing with a time of 22:01. Fruitport Calvary Christian sophomore Ava Wilson came in second place with a time of 22:18 and Muskegon Catholic senior Cally Camara came in third place with a time of 22:35.

Other top ten finishers included Carolyn Bennett (North Muskegon), Olivia Wing (MCE), Kassidy Kleinheksel (MCC), McKena Wilson (FCC), Vanessa Peltoniemi (Holton), Aubrey Goyings (Holton) and Elizabeth Logan (MCE).

In the Blue Varsity races the Sparta Spartans claimed the top team spots.

In the boys division Sparta finished with a team score of 19 points. They were followed by Ravenna and Oakridge who both tallied 59 points. Muskegon finished with 110 points.

Top local finishers included Oakridge sophomore Peyton Ruel who came in second place with a time of 17:36. Ravenna junior came in seventh place with a time of 18:53 and his senior teammate Dylan VanKoevering came in tenth place with a time of 19:33

Muskegon senior Jordan Briggs was the top finisher for the Big Reds finishing in 34th place with a time of 26:05.

In the girls division Sparta finished with 25 points.

They were followed by Oakridge (66), Shelby (67), Ravenna (87), Orchard View (131) and Muskegon (158).

Top local finishers included Shelby senior Emma Soelberg who came in second place with a time of 20:28. Oakridge junior Merceydez Patton came in fifth place with a time of 21:32 and her junior teammate Raegan Ruel came in sixth place with a time of 21:47. Oakridge junior Cara Morse finished in tenth place with a time of 23:46.

Ravenna senior Autumn Morse finished in 11th place. Orchard View junior Paige Davis finished in 21st place and Muskegon sophomore Breasia Gambled finished in 30th place.
