FREMONT–The Fremont Packers got by the Orchard View Cardinals by a 3-2 score in Wednesday afternoon soccer action in Fremont.

Fremont got on the board first when Killian Prewitt finished a ball from Tee Ward making the score 1-0. 

Prewitt struck again just two minutes later when Gonzalo Garcia slotted him the ball. 

Fremont took a 3-0 lead when Joey Mansfield found Deagan Klimek’s head with nine minutes remaining in the first half. 

Orchard View answered however with just two minutes left in the half on a Corbin Russell goal. 

It was 3-1 at the half. 

The match was back and forth in the second half and Orchard View lessened the gap one more time again on a Russell finish. 

Both teams had chances in the last seven minutes but couldn’t finish. 

Fremont outshot OV 17-6.  Ben Mellema made 4 saves in net for the Packers.  Brandon Todd ended with 14 saves for the visitors. 

Fremont improved to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the West Michigan Conference. The Packers will travel to Ravenna on Monday, September 12th.

Orchard Views fell to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Cardinals will host Montague on Monday, September 12th.

Both games are slated to begin at 5:45pm
