SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central’s girls basketball team bounced back from a loss to Glen Lake with a dominating 36-18 victory over visiting North Muskegon in the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division contest Tuesday night.

Mallory Miller and Wren Nelson scored 10 points apiece to lead the Spartans, and each cleared down seven rebounds as well. GraceWeinert added five points, five assists and four steals.

The Spartans started a little slow, outscoring the Norsemen only 7-4. But they doubled up the Norsemen in the second quarter, 12-6 and built a 19-10 lead at the half.

Mason County then outscored the Norsemen, 8-4 in the third period and took a 27-14 lead into the final eight minutes. The Spartans had a 9-4 advantage in the fourth quarter.

“Mason County Central is a good shooting team with size inside making them a tough competitor,” said North Muskegon head coach Sarah Knuth. “We felt good to be in the game at halftime and to hold them to under forty points for the game. Their reserves were able to get substantial playing time, but their starters saw plenty of floor time as well.”

The Spartans improved to 11-2 overall and are 6-1 in the conference with a conference home game against Holton next on the schedule Friday.

North Muskegon dropped to 3-10 overall and 2-5 in the conferecne. The Norsemen are next scheduled to see action Friday night at home against Hesperia in another conference contest.
