REMUS–The Kent City girls’ basketball team got off to a fast start and never looked back in a 50-17 victory over the Chippewa Hills Warriors on Friday night.

The game was played at Remus in the Central State Athletic Association.

The Eagles had eight of their nine players score at least one point against the Warriors.

Kent City raced out to a 20-4 lead after the first eight minutes and 35-6 at the half. Kent City had a 15-2 scoring run in the second quarter.

Both teams scored seven points each in the third period and Kent City held an 8-4 fourth-quarter edge.

Lexie Bowers led the Kent City offense with 19 points, eight steals and six rebounds. Maddie Geers tossed in 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds along with four steals and three assists. Hailey Kamphuis contributed seven points.

Kent City (14-3, 7-1) will host Brethren at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
