HAMILTON–For one quarter, it was close. But, in the end, Hamilton ran away from the Fruitport Trojans, 73-39 on Tuesday night.
 
The OK-Blue leaders hit 14 shots from behind the 3-point line to highlight the victory.
 
Hamilton had a narrow 18-17 lead after the first eight minutes. The Hawkeyes extended the lead to 33-22 by the half.
 
Hamilton put the game away in the third period by outscoring the Trojans 23-9 and taking a commanding 56-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
 
“A good start we could not sustain,” said Fruitport coach Steve Erny. “Hamilton is an excellent team and played well tonight. We will bounce back.”
 
Bode Anspach led Fruitport with 20 points.
 
Fruitport (11-7, 6-5 OK Blue) will travel to Grand Rapids West Catholic on Friday.
