GRAYLING — The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks built a huge lead early on and cruised to an 82-29 victory over host Kirtland Community College on Saturday.

The Lady Jayhawks pitched a shutout in the opening quarter and led 25-0. The lead grew to 38-12 at the half and 58-21 after three quarters.

“We jumped out to a quick start and focused on running the court,” Jayhawk assistant coach Rachel Kent said. “The ladies did a great job listening to the assistant coaches in the absence of Coach Cooper. We are very proud of this team and their ability to play as a team.”

Emmerson Goodin led the Jayhawks (17-8, 8-4) with 25 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Also hitting double figures in scoring were Calla Miller with 19 points, eight rebounds three assists and two steals, Karleigh Jeffries with 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Ally Sieber with 10 points.  Kendall Zoulek had seven points and nine rebounds.

 The Jayhawks host North Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for Sophomore Night.

Kirtland fell to 2-17, 2-11.
