SCOTTVILLE — The Mason County Central Spartans saw their chances of catching league-leading Hart dimmed on Friday night.
An inspired band North Muskegon Norsemen blasted the host Spartans 58-40 in a key West Michigan Conference game.
North Muskegon grabbed a 12-11 lead after one quarter and surged to a 22-14 lead at the half.
North Muskegon outscored the Spartans, 17-13, in the third quarter and stretched its lead to 12 points, 39-27, going into the fourth period. The Norsemen had a 19-13 advantage in the last eight minutes.
Troy McManus scored 19 points to lead the Norsemen. Jaxon Lisinski added 14.
Will Chye poured in a game-high 21 points for MCC and hauled down seven rebounds. Jayden Perrone finished with 10 points.
North Muskegon (12-2, 5-2) travels to West Michigan Aviation Academy in Grand Rapids on Tuesday night.
Mason County Central (10-4, 5-2) travels to Kent City for a non-conference game Monday night.
