WALKER — Talk about a wild finish … look no further than Friday night’s non-conference game between the visiting Whitehall Vikings and Grand Rapids Covenant  Christian.

When the dust finally cleared, the host Chargers had a hard fought 75-71 victory over the Vikings. The final quarter featured a combined 51 points scored between the two teams.

Covenant led 20-16 after one quarter, but Whitehall battled back to take a 35-20 lead at the half. By the end of the third quarter,  Whitehall led 48-47.

But, in the pivotal fourth quarter, the Chargers outscored the Vikings, 28-23, and captured the narrow victory.

Camden Thompson led Whitehall with 22 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and four blocked shots. Jack Houttemann added 14 points and DJ Jamison had 11.

Whitehall was red-hot from the field with a 29-for-48 performance for 60 percent. That included 7-of-17 from beyond the 3-point line.

Whitehall (11-5, 5-1) will travel over to Montague next Thursday.
