HART–Hart was celebrating Senior Night on Thursday in a West Michigan Conference-Rivers Division contest against a much-improved Ravenna squad.

Ravenna gave Hart all they could handle in the first half, but they were no match for the Pirates in the second half. Hart posted a 65-29 victory of its ninth straight win.

Hart got out to a 11-7 lead after the first quarter. Ravenna kept things close by outscoring the Pirates 12-9 in the second quarter. Hart had a slim, 20-19, halftime lead.

The second half was a different story for the Hart offense and the Ravenna defense.

The Pirates racked up a scoring advantage of 20-6 in the third period and closed out the final eight minutes with a 25-4 scoring margin.

“In the second half, we were able to hit a few outside shots, but the main difference was we got some baskets after breaking the press,” said Hart coach Travis Rosema. “Ravenna played with great energy, used several presses and defenses in an attempt to slow down our attack. We were able to break the press, but didn’t capitalize on layups.” Rosema said.

Aspen Boutell led Hart with 18 points, five assists and four steals. Addi Hovey tossed in 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Abbi Hicks chipped in 11 points, five assists and six steals. Chloe Coker contributed eight points and had four steals.

Hart (13-2, 8-0) will travel to Wyoming Potters House Christian on Monday evening. That is a makeup game postponed over the holidays as part of the Cornerstone University Showcase.

Ravenna (5-9, 2-6) will host Newaygo on Monday evening in a makeup contest from a game that was postponed earlier this season.
