SHELBY — It was no contest for the Mason County Central girls softball team Tuesday as the Spartans cruised to a pair of lopsided wins over Shelby.

The visiting Spartans swept the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division twinbill, 21-2 and 18-3.  

The offense was clicking early on for the Spartans, and they finished Game 1 with eight of nine starters collect a base hit. The other batter reached base three times with walks.  

Wren Nelson started the game pitching for the Spartans and worked three innings in the mercy shortened game. She allowed three hits, three walks, two runs (one earned) and struck out seven.  

Emily Adams paced the hitting attack for the Spartans with two hits and three runs scored. Aubry Chye also went 2-for-3, including a home run, a double, three stolen bases and one walk.  

Riley Mast produced a triple and three runs batted in.  

Game 2 hurler Gracie Weinert threw two innings. She gave up one hit, three earned runs and walked three.  

On the offensive end, Alex Luttrell led the way with three hits, including a triple and a double. Geralyn Soberalski, Adams, Mast and Aylin Davila each were 2-for-3 with Mast ripping a triple, stealing two bases and driving in three runs.  

The Spartans hosts Onekama on Friday in a non-conference game.
