MACOMB – Playing away from Marsh Field did nothing to disrupt the Muskegon Clippers’ win streak as they pushed their record to 6-0 with a road win over Jet Box on Wednesday, 7-2.

Both teams were quiet to start the night with no runs on the board through the first two innings.

Then, the Clippers used patient at bats to put themselves ahead. After a lead off double from Sam Lisiak to start the top of the third, two Clippers reached base on walks. A fielding error by the Jet Box second basemen scored Lisiak from third before the Clippers got another on a fielder’s choice.

Bats stayed hot for the Clippers in the fourth inning as they extended their lead to 4-0 on a trio of hits. Aaron Piasecki singled to start the string of knocks and was immediately sent home on a double from Lisiak. Two batters later, Luke Kerrins plated Lisiak on a single.

Daniel Gutierrez

Two more runs crossed the plate for the Clippers in the sixth inning to push their advantage out to 6-0. DJ Thompson came in to pitch in relief of Daniel Gutierrez in the bottom of the sixth, which is where Jet Box gained their only runs of the night.

The right arm of Gutierrez lasted five innings for the Clippers on the mound. He allowed just one hit while striking out four. DJ Thompson pitched three innings in relief, allowing two runs on three hits. Ethan Henry closed it out in the bottom of the ninth.

Sam Lisiak

Lisiak led Muskegon with two hits, both for extra bases. Stoney Smith had one hit and drove in two runs.

The Clippers will take on Jet Box in the second of a two-game series at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.

After an off-day on Friday, the Clippers return home to Marsh Field at 7:05 p.m. Saturday to take on the Michigan Monarchs.
