KENT CITY–North Muskegon’s Jerry Wiegers captured a state title in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at the Division 3 track state meet.

The meet was run at Kent City High School.

In the boys’ division, North Muskegon came in sixth place with 22 points. Other local team scores included Mason County Central and Manistee with four points and Kent City with three points.

Wiegers, a junior, won the title with a time of 49.49. Kent City junior Christian Brown finished in 10th place with a time of 52.09.

Kent City junior Samuel Martini finished in sixth place in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:46.93.

The North Muskegon 4 x 200 relay team finished in seventh place at 1:32.44. The team consisted of Landon Christensen, Jaden Villalpando, Talan Thompson and Jerry Wiegers.

Montague senior Silas Jancek finished ninth in the shot put with a toss of 50-1.5.

Manistee sophomore Damien McEntaffer finished in fifth place in the pole vault 13-6.

In the girls’ division, Manistee finished in 17th place with 12.5 points and Ravenna came in 18th place with 11 points. White Cloud finished with six points while Kent City managed two points.

Ravenna senior Kendra Postema finished in sixth place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.68.

Manistee sophomore Audrey Huizenga came in eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.41. North Muskegon junior Abbie Wiegers finished in 10th place with a time of 1:01.25

Manistee junior Cecillia Postma finished in 10th place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:16.98.

Kent City sophomore Lila Volkers came in seventh in the 3200 meters at 11:23.54.

Manistee finished in sixth place in the 4 x 100 relay. The team included Ashtyn Janis, Audrey Huizenga, Libby McCarthy and Lacey Zimmerman. The Chippewas also finished third in the 4 x 200 relay at 1:47.96. The team Janis, Huizenga, McCarthy and Zimmerman.

White Cloud senior Gaby Reeve finished in third place in the discus with a toss of 123-1.

Manistee junior Libby McCarthy finished sixth in the high jump at 5-0.
