BEAVERTON – Asa Barnhard scored two touchdowns, topped the 100-yard mark in rushing and led the Fremont Packers to a narrow 15-12 victory over the host Beaverton Beavers on Thursday night.

Barnhard was the workhorse back for the Packers with 20 carries for 106 yards. Owen Hertel added 51 yards on the ground on six carries. In all, the Packers rushed 45 times for 224 yards.

Quarterback Talen Reichert-Slater completed 5-of-11 passes for 36 yards. Kyle DeKuiper had two catches for 22 yards.

The leader on the defensive side of the ball was Connor Pettis with eight tackles.

Besides Barnard’s two touchdowns, the Packers also scored on a 2-point conversion by Khai Noordyk and Ben Mellema with an extra point kick.

Fremont (1-1) travels to Ludington next Friday for a West Michigan Conference matchup.
