LUDINGTON — Ludington scored two goals in each half and limited Petoskey to just seven shots on goal and earned a decisive 4-1 non-conference win Tuesday at home.

Parker Wendt got things started for the Orioles by putting in a shot from a corner kick by Yebe Boerema. Kyle Stedman converted another corner kick by Boerema. The Northmen found the back of the net just before halftime to make it 2-1.

Spencer Holmes notched both goals in the second half. One assist went to Alex Smith and the other was credited to Wendt.

Gabe Gamez was in goal and finished with six saves on seven shots.

“We played a very sound, smart game this evening,” said Ludington coach Kris Anderson. “We really maintained possession of the ball and capitalized on our opportunities. We had 14 shots.

“It was a well-played game on our part, and one of those nights when we did what we needed to do to beat a good, quality Petoskey team.”

The Orioles improved their record to 6-2 on the season with their fifth straight win and play again tonight (Wednesday) at home against Muskegon Catholic.
