FRUITPORT – The Fruitport volleyball team battled OK-Blue leader Holland Christian on Tuesday.

The Trojans fought hard with one of their best efforts of the season, but fell short in four sets, 22-25, 16-25, 25-23 and 26-28.

“I was very proud of the way the girls fought tonight,” said coach Nicole Bayle. “It was our Trojan Strong game, a very emotional game, but the girls came out and played tough with a really great energy.”

Sadie Haase had 19 digs, 16 kills and three aces, while Emma Danicek chipped in nine kills and four blocks. Gracelynn Olson added 20 assists and four aces.

Defensively, Lauren Riedel and Emma Fecher made 13 digs and 12 digs, respectively.

“I am feeling very positive about how we played headed into districts,” said Bayle. “These girls seem to have gotten over the hump and are really working together at the right time.”

Fruitport will open the Division 2 district tournament at Allendale on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
