REMUS – The Hart girls’ cross country team is heading to the state finals after winning the Division 3 regional title on Friday.
Hart, led by Jessica Jazwinski, the overall winner, finished with 52 points. Chippewa Hills was second with 72 and Benzie Central was third with 97.
Other area teams included Manistee with a fifth-place finish and Mason County Central in seventh. Hesperia had four runners so it did not qualify in the team standings.
In the boys’ race, Hart finished second and also is going to the state finals with a second-place finish.
Reed City is the regional champion with 20 points. Hart had 55. Manistee finished fifth with 137, Hesperia was eighth with 205 and Mason County Central was 11th at 305. Reed City had the three top finishers in the boys’ race.
