MUSKEGON — The Ludington football team bounced back after last week’s big loss and cruised to a 41-14 win over host Orchard View Friday.

The major leader for the Orioles was quarterback Cam Gunsell, the coach’s son, who rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries.

Joe Benz contributed 50 yards on eight attempts and Gage Jones caught four passes from Gunsell for 85 yards and two touchdowns as Gunsell went 7-of-9 for 100 yards.

Defensively, the Orioles were led by Deric Duncell who had nine tackles, while Jones made seven. Cam Fetter and Jeron Hathaway each had a fumble recovery.

Enrique Gutierrez scored on an 8-yard run and Sam Jordan had the other touchdown on an 83-yard scamper for the Cardinals.

Gutierrez finished the night with 42 yards rushing on eight carries to lead OV. Justin Switzer added 38 on nine attempts.

Orchard View were led defensively by Korson Bowen with six tackles and one tackle for loss, while Collin Riley and Curtis Scott had six tackles apiece and Emilio Villareal added five.

Ludington improved to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the WMC Lakes Division and will finish the regular season next Friday night at inter-county rival Mason County Central.

Orchard View dropped to 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in the division, with its last game scheduled at unbeaten Whitehall next Friday night.
