MADISON – The Muskegon Lumberjacks high octane offense sputtered out on Friday night as their winning streak ended at three games.

The Jacks opened the scoring, but failed to add on as they fell to the host Madison Capitols 4-1 at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Wisconsin.

Muskegon is now 4-2 on the season, good for eight points and a tie for third place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference standings.

The Lumberjacks will look to bounce back Saturday against the Capitols with a faceoff slated for 8:05 p.m.

Ty Henricks opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks at the 13:38 mark of the first period. Hunter Anderson and David Klee each notched assists on the tally.

The Capitols tied the game 1-1 with a goal from William Felicio 15:25 into the opening stanza.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

Madison scored the lone goal of the second period at 12:31 on a tally from Charlie Michaud.

The Capitols led 2-1 heading into the third period.

Madison added a pair of late third-period goals by Christopher Delaney (17:25) and Max Nagel (19:26) to close out the scoring.

The Capitols outshot Muskegon by a 48-29 margin as both teams failed to connect on special teams. Muskegon went 0-for-2 on the man advantage while Madison was 0-for-3 on its power-play chances.

Lukas Swedin suffered the loss in net for the Lumberjacks despite stopping 44-of-47 shots on goal.
