MUSKEGON – North Muskegon football has won all but one game this season by double digits. That continued on Friday when the Norsemen dispatched Shelby, 52-14.

NM quarterback James Young completed 19-of-25 passes for 296 yards and five touchdowns. Tristan Thomas was the leading rusher with eight carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Landon Christiansen cught four passes for 59 yards and one score. Alec Newville caught three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Lamarkis Graham had one touchdown catch among his three catches for 53 yards.  TJ Byard had two touchdown catches. He finished with five catches for 48 yards. Chuck Meyers had one touchdown on a 32-yard catch.

Meyers led the defense with 10 tackles and one sack.

Shelby put up a good fight, relying on the arm of senior quarterback Lalo Garcia. Garcia was 5-for-15 for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Lalo also was the Tigers’ second leading tackler with seven on defense.

AJ Melchor led the Tigers on the ground with 57 yards on 13 carries, while Phillip Hayes recorded 39 yards receiving and Isaac Garcia added 60 yards receiving. Melchor was also the leading tackler for Shelby with 10 and a fumble recovery to boot.

The Tigers finish their season at 2-7 overall and 2-4 in WMC Rivers play.

North Muskegon will await their next opponent as their 9-0 record was more than enough to earn a spot in the Division 7 playoffs.
