Grade Anspach only scored three points for the Fruitport boys’ basketball team on Tuesday night, but they were the most important points of the contest.

Anspach nailed a game-winning 3-point basket at the buzzer to propel the Trojans to a 53-52 win over Comstock Park in a non-league game.

Fruitport led 17-12 after the first quarter, 27-26 at halftime and 41-36 heading into the final stanza.

DayDay Williams led the Trojans with 18 points, while Hudson Hazekamp added 13 and Ryan Bosch scored eight.

“It’s not very often a team gets to experience a buzzer-beating, game-winner like we did tonight,” said Fruitport coach Steve Erny. “Grade Anspach stepped up when the moment mattered the most and hit a huge shot for the win. I am happy for him and for our team.”

The Trojans managed to win the game despite having three starters out during the fourth quarter due to injury and foul trouble.

Fruitport, which will host Muskegon Catholic on Friday, is now 3-2 overall.
