MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Community College wrestling team grappled to a third-place finish in the MCCAA Dual Meet Championships over the weekend.
“This was the perfect day to build momentum into the next semester,” said MCC’s first-year coach Cody Carpenter. “We finally had an opportunity to wrestle against our conference teams and proved that we belong.”
The Jayhawks went 3-1 with wins against St. Clair Shores (33-18), Marian (33-24) and Mott (35-18). The loss came at the hands of Henry Ford College (32-24).
Joe Perez (133) and Rice Robins (174) were 5-0 on the day. Ashton Clark (125) and Caleb O’Neal (285) were 4-1, while Ryan Reno (165) and Matt Beck (184) finished 3-2.
Muskegon Community College will be back after the break to compete at the Spartan Mat Classic on January 13.
