MUSKEGON – The North Muskegon girls’ basketball team opened the season with a 51-12 win over Muskegon Catholic on Tuesday night.

The Norse jumped out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter before leading 31-4 at halftime.

North Muskegon extended its lead to 44-11 going into the fourth quarter before closing the contest on a 7-1 run.

Delaney Young paced the Norse with 14 points and four steals while Allie Jensen added nine points and three steals. Emma Buchmiller and Grace Philpot contributed with eight and seven points, respectively.

The Crusaders were led by Lindsay Ladd with five points and five rebounds while Abbi Cook had four points, three rebounds and three assists.

North Muskegon (1-0) will play Hesperia on Thursday.
