HOLTON – The White Cloud girls basketball team bounced back from a slow first half to top Muskegon Catholic, 31-24 on Thursday.
MCC (1-4, 1-1) jumped out early to build a 10-2 first quarter lead. Though struggling to find the basket, the Indians managed to get enough to fall and bring it to 11-9 at the halftime break.
White Cloud came out in the second half in their groove and outscored the Crusaders 20-15 to squeeze out the win.
Gracy Holmes and Annie Feldpausch led the Indians’ scoring with nine points apiece. Brooke Ringler followed with seven points.
“Overall, our defense was sloppy and our execution poor,” said White Cloud coach Caleb Wilk. “If we want to win tomorrow we will need to play a much better game.”
White Cloud (3-4, 1-2) will face host Holton on Friday to close out the tournament.
