ROMULUS — The result was never in doubt after the first eight minutes as the Ludington girls basketball team throttled Bay City John Glenn and rolled to an easy 63-27 non-conference win.

Defense played a huge role for the Orioles as they kept the Bobcats’ offense under wraps with a tight pressure defense, and that led to a 13-5 lead in the opening quarter.

It did not get any better for the Bobcats (4-2), who had trouble getting anything started. Ludington zoomed out to a 30-15 first-half lead and that was the game.

Eliana Jeruzal had her best game of the season with 16 points and Peyton Welch contributed 12.

Ludington improved to 4-2 and returns to the hardwood Friday for its second game against Ann Arbor Pioneer in the Michigan Hardwood Classic hosted by Romulus.
