SHELBY – There wasn’t much offense on the court for either Oakridge or Shelby on Tuesday night, but the Eagles did just enough to narrowly defeat the Tigers, 36-34.

Oakridge owed its winning effort in large part to the play of senior Anna Lundquist. Though the Eagles struggled, Lundquist was always at the forefront of their attack – leading her team in scoring through all four quarters and finishing with 21 points on the night.

Shelby had control of the game through the game’s first three quarters, surviving several lead changes, but coming away with the lead at the end of each of those frames.

In the fourth quarter, Lundquist knocked down a pair of 3-point shots to lead her team to victory. Lundquist nearly had a triple-double as she added 14 rebounds and nine blocks. Oakridge’s next highest scorer was Cambria Guenthardt with four points and seven steals.

Molli Schultz had 12 points to lead Shelby while sophomore Brylee Friedman scored 10 and added 10 rebounds. Kylie Brown recorded 13 rebounds and four assists.

Shelby (4-7, 2-5 WMC Rivers) lost its seventh straight, but will hope a conference battle with North Muskegon on Thursday will turn things around.

Oakridge (3-9, 1-6 WMC Lakes) snapped a four-game losing streak of its own and will look to continue with a win over Fremont at home on Thursday.
