GRANT – Julie Ashbaugh became the Grant High School all-time career point scorer on Tuesday night in the Tigers’ 66-26 victory over injury-riddled Holton.

Ashbaugh reached the 1,055-point mark and took over the top spot in school history.

“We knew Holton would not be a team to take lightly,” said Grant coach Josh Delamater. “They were without some of their varsity girls, which allowed us to put a lot of pressure on them in the full court.”

Ashbaugh ended the evening with 22 points, while Lily Krepps put up five 3-pointers for 15 points. Alexa Obenauf chipped in eight points for the Tigers.

The Red Devils were faced with a tough situation going into the game and they knew it was going to be tough.

“We only have eight players on the team and three were out sick so we canceled the jayvee game and had to pull up a few players just to have a bench,” said Holton coach Robert Jordan. “The issue with that is they haven’t practiced with us all year and it was a perfect scenario for us to get steamrolled.”

The Red Devils’ Ryann Robins scored seven points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Layla Cannady scored 10 points, while Abbie Fowler threw in seven points and four assists.

Grant (11-3, 7-0) will be at home on Wednesday for CSAA play against White Cloud.

Holton (12-6, 5-4) will host North Muskegon for WMC-Rivers action on Thursday.
