Big third quarter pushes Newaygo into rout of Orchard View

MUSKEGON – The Newaygo girls basketball team topped Orchard View, 50-20, on Tuesday evening.

The Lions led 23-14 at the half then went on an 18-2 third-quarter scoring run to put the game out of reach.

Naomi Schillman scored 14 points for the Lions, while Maria Riddering scored 11 points and snagged seven steals. Amaya Lathrop added eight points and six steals.

Newaygo (9-7, 3-5) will see CSAA play on Friday as they travel to Big Rapids.

Orchard View (4-12, 0-8) will travel to Ludington for a WMC-Lakes contest on Thursday.
