MUSKEGON – Three area bowling teams qualified for the state finals on Thursday in the Division 3 regional at Sherman Bowling Center.

The Oakridge boys and girls both finished first in the region while the girls from Orchard View finished second. The top two teams in the regionals will head to the state finals next weekend at Jax 60 in Jackson.

On Friday, the bowlers will compete in the singles competition with state finals berths at stake.

Central Montcalm captured the team title in the boys division with a pinfall of 3,069. Oakridge was second at 3,045.

Teams bowled eight baker games and two team games to get their cumulative total for the meet.

Oakridge had a high baker game of 215 and team games of 909 and 819 for account for its second-place finish.

Orchard View’s boys finished third, one pin behind Oakridge for the coveted second spot. The Cardinals’ high baker game was 212 while their team scores were 823 and 770. The team total was 3,044.

The Kent City Eagles came in fifth at 3,014. The Eagles’ best baker game was 200 and their team scores were 916 and 881.

Fremont was sixth at 2,991. Their team scores were 895 and 851. The Packers’ best baker game score was 208.

Finishing eighth were the Montague Wildcats with 2,782. The best baker game was 200 and team score totals were 858 and 674.

Whitehall was ninth at 2,715. The top baker game total was 174 and the team scores were 766 and 746. Rounding out the area teams was Mason County Central at 2293. The best baker game was 157 and the team scores were 647 and 659.

On the girls’ side, the girls from Oakridge captured the title with a 99-point advantage over runner-up Orchard View. The Eagles finished with 2,675. The best baker game was 194 and they had team scores of 737 and 724.

The Cardinals best baker game was 188 and their team scores were 719 and 615 for a 2,576.

Fremont’s Packers took third at 2,408. Team scores were 757 and 539 with a team total of 2,408.

Whitehall finished in the sixth spot at 2,360. The Vikings rolled games of 573 and 694. The top baker game was 188.

Ninth place went to Kent City at 2,149. The top baker game of the eight was a 168. Team scores were 598 and 594.

Finishing up the girls’ field was Montague in 13th place. The best baker game for the Wildcats was a 107. Team scores were 418 and 438.
