GRAND RAPIDS – Four area bowling teams were in competition on Thursday in the Division 2 bowling regionals at Eastbrook Lanes in Grand Rapids.

In the boys’ division, Grand Rapids Northview and Greenville qualified for the state finals next weekend at Century Lanes in Waterford. For the girls, Sparta and Cedar Springs are moving into the state finals.

The top two teams qualify for the finals after rolling eight baker games and two team games. On Friday, the teams head into singles competition with the top finishers heading to the state finals.

In the boys’ match, Fruitport was the highest area finisher with a seventh-place finish.  The Trojans’ high baker game was 164. In the team games, the Trojans had games of 715 and 771. Their total for the day was 2,523.

Ludingon, which finished 10th, had a high baker game of 180. Its two team games were 607 and 628. The Orioles had a total of 2,281.

Spring Lake came in 11th with a total of 2,260. The Lakers’ best baker game was 161. The team games were 686 and 569. 

Coming in 12th place was the Muskegon Big Reds at 2,251. The best baker game was 133. The team game scores were 583 and 705.

On the girls’ side, Sparta (2,708) and Cedar Springs (2,487) qualified for the state meet.

Spring Lake’s girls came in fourth at 2,188. The best baker game for the Lakers was a 182. Team came totals were 611 and 567.

Seventh place went to Ludington with 2,087. The Orioles team games were 650 and 581. The highest pinfall in baker games was a 146.

Fruitport finished 10th at 1,858. The Trojans’ top baker came was 134 with identical team games of 546.
