MOUNT PLEASANT – The Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks got off to a rough start on Wednesday night and never recovered in a lopsided loss to Mid-Michigan Community College.

The Jayhawks lost 93-50, yet remain in third place in the conference standings with two games remaining.

“We didn’t come to play tonight,” said MCC coach Jason Cooper. “You cannot go on the road against a good team like Mid-Michigan and not be mentally focused. It showed tonight.”

The Lady Jayhawks trailed 21-15 after one quarter, but the deficit ballooned to 51-30 by halftime. In the second half, the Lady Jayhawks were outscored 40-20.

Arrionna Williams led the Lady Jayhawks with 17 points. Gavy Reeve and Ty’veonna Davis each had eight points. McKena Wilson had seven points. Remi Sponseller, Ali Phillips and Maiya Hill each had four rebounds.

MCC has two conference games left with a home game on Saturday with Kirtland and a road game next Tuesday in Petoskey against North Central College.

The Lady Jayhawks fell to 13-12, 7-5 in league play.

Mid-Michigan is now 23-1, 10-1.
