TRAVERSE CITY — Walkerville snapped a two-game losing streak Monday night with a 54-32 non-conference win over Grand Traverse Academy in Traverse City.

Walkerville opened a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and blew the game wide open with a 21-7 second period to take a 35-12 halftime lead.

Grand Traverse outscored the Wildcats 10-9 in the third period, but Walkerville still had a commanding 44-21 lead. The two teams scored 10 points apiece in the fourth quarter.

Collin Chase and Connor Shafer scored 17 points apiece to lead the Wildcats, while Angel Santillan Lopez chipped in 10 points. Zeontae De La Paz had six points, 15 rebounds and six blocks.

Walkerville improved its record to 7-9 overall and hosts Mesick in a West Michigan D League game Tuesday.
