GRAND RAPIDS – The Muskegon Community College women’s softball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Grace Christian on Saturday.
 
The Lady Jayhawks won the opener 17-1 and the nightcap, 2-1.
 
In the first game, pitcher Hannah Aldred gave up one run on six hits in seven innings of work. She struck out five.
 
The leading hitter for MCC was Brooklyn Galdeen with two home runs, three RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Andrea Romero had three hits and knocked in two runs. Rachel Romero had two hits, scored four runs and belted a home run. Lilli Goodrich had two hits, one a double, and scored twice.
 
In the nightcap, Goodrich pitched five strong innings. She allowed one run, one hit and struck out six.
 
Jasmine Pastor knocked in a run with a hit. Illeana Hatcher and Willo Staal each scored a run.
 
MCC is now 5-7 on the season.
