NORTON SHORES – The Western Michigan Christian baseball team kicked off the season with a doubleheader sweep over West Michigan Aviation Academy on Monday.

The Warriors won by scores of 11-5 and 8-1.

In game one, Will Liggett had two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Alex Wagenmaker added two runs, two walks and drove in three runs. Sam Kuiper had a big two-run triple and scored two runs.

Quint Menefee scored one run and Jack Sipe had two runs. Max Miller struck out eight batters at the mound.

In the second game, Menefee had two hits, two runs and drove in a run. Liggett scored three runs, one hit and one RBI. Caleb McKay had two hits, a run and an RBI, while Nathan Clausing had an RBI single.

Wagenmaker gave up just one run while striking out five batters.

WMC will be at home on Wednesday against Covenant Christian.
