Hart and Kent City each won a contest in a softball doubleheader on Thursday night.

The Pirates cruised to a 17-7 win in the opener before Kent City bounced back in the nightcap with a 15-9 win.

Gabby Quijas earned the win in Game 1, allowing two earned runs on 12 hits and for the third start in a row there were no walks.

Abby Hicks paced the Hart offense with three hits, while Caydence Bateson, Nora Chickering and Reese Smith each had two hits apiece.

Smith suffered the loss from the mound in the second game, allowing nine earned runs on nine hits while walking 11 batters and striking out five.

Bateson, Makenna Carrier and Quijas each had two hits to lead Hart in the nightcap, while Hicks pounded her fifth home run of the season.

The Pirates are now 13-5 on the season and 2-2 in WMC Rivers division play.
