WAYLAND – The Ravenna softball team dropped a doubleheader to Wayland Union on Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs were edged out, 3-2, in the opener and fell, 7-1, in Game 2.

Addison Gillard took the opening loss on the mound and gave up nine hits, three runs and one walk but struck out 11 batters.

Emily Postema had three hits and a double, while Gillard and Kendra Denhof each added a single hit.

In the nightcap, Natalie Rosel allowed 10 hits, seven runs, a walk and struck out seven.

Emma Herremans and Reese Herremans had four and two hits, respectively. Taylor Nutt chipped in a double. Postema, Gillard and Denhof each had a hit.

Ravenna will travel to Ludington on Friday.
