WHITEHALL – The Mona Shores and Whitehall softball team split a doubleheader on Thursday.

The Vikings took game one, 5-4, and the Sailors ran away with the nightcap, 19-5.

In the opener, the Sailors’ Miley Peterson gave up four hits, four runs, four walks and struck out one in four innings. Sophie Mettler came in at relief and allowed two hits.

Lily Baskin had two hits for the Sailors.

Baskin went the distance on the mound in Game 2 and gave up five hits and struck out two batters.

The Sailors’ Amelia Pena had three hits and scored four runs. Brooklyn Graham and Maggie McCarthy each scored four runs. 

Mona Shores will be at home against Wyoming on Tuesday for a doubleheader.

Whitehall will be at home for a doubleheader on Friday against Spring Lake.
