The Ravenna softball squad dropped their first two games of the season in a doubleheader sweep against Coopersville on Thursday.

The Bulldogs lost the first game 4-3, then fell 10-7 in the nightcap before the game ended early due to darkness.

Addison Gillard suffered the loss in the opening game. She allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out nine batters.

Natalie Rosel paced Ravenna with two hits while Reese Herremans, Emily Postema and Emma Herremans each recorded a hit.

In Game 2, Riley Homoly took the loss after giving up eight runs on seven hits while striking out three. Rosel struck out eight batters in relief for Ravenna.

Emma Herremans had three hits, including a home run, while Reese Herremans, Rosel, Postema and Gillard each had a pair of hits.
