NORTH MUSKEGON – The Kent City softball team split a doubleheader with North Muskegon on Thursday.

The Norse took game one, 6-4, and the Eagles won the nightcap, 10-6.

In the opener, Lylah Larson gave up 11 hits, six runs, three walks and struck out three batters for the Eagles. 

The Norse’s Maddy Bacon allowed eight hits, four runs, four walks and struck out 12.

The Eagles’ Laynee Hoffman had two hits and two runs, while Milah Mollien added a hit and a run. Ellie Hansen and Hannah Stellini each had a hit and two RBI. Cailynn Hartzell, Laila Mortenson and Larson had a hit apiece.

Balon collected four hits and an RBI for the Norse. Audrey Brown chipped in three hits, three runs and three RBI, while Mattie Houseman had two hits and two RBI. Braedi Baker threw in one hit and scored a run.

Larson gave up eight hits, six runs, three walks and struck out a batter.

Baker allowed seven hits, four runs, one walk and struck out five for the Norse, while Balon gave up five hits, six runs, two walks and struck out two.

The Eagles’ Hartzell had four hits, two runs and two RBI. Hoffman contributed three hits and scored three runs. Mortenson had two hits, one run and three RBI. Stellini had a hit and two runs.

Baker had three hits, two runs and an RBI for the Norse. Rylee Cooper chipped in a hit, a run and two RBI, while Baila Lang had a hit and a run. Balon had a hit and three RBI.

Kent City will be at home on Tuesday against Grant.

North Muskegon is set to visit Whitehall on Saturday.
