MUSKEGON – The Reeths-Puffer baseball team used solid pitching to put away Zeeland West in an OK-Green doubleheader on Wednesday.

The Rockets won, 3-1 and 7-3.

The opener was highlighted with strong performances on the mound from Jaxson Whitaker, who gave up just two hits and struck out eight batters, and Trent Reichert who came on in relief and did not allow a run.

Ethan Frang had three hits and Whitaker added two. Jack Yonkman, Reichert and Landyn Wilson each had a hit.

The combination of Reichert, Holden Earnest and Brayden Mitchelson pitched in the nightcap. Reichert gave up two runs, while Earnest gave up no runs over three innings. Mitchelson closed out the last two innings.

Yonkman, Whitaker and Earnest each had two hits. Reichert and Ethan Muskovin each chipped in a hit.

Reeths-Puffer will be at home on Thursday against North Muskegon.
