NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores boys soccer team held on to edge Whitehall, 2-1, on Friday.

The Sailors led 1-0 by halftime with a goal from Andrew Hylland, assisted by Koen Holman.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, the Vikings scored the equalizer the battle was on until the final minutes when the Sailors scored again.

The Sailors’ Colin Rourke collected a pass from Drew Davis and found the back of the net for the game-winner in the last two minutes of play.

Goalkeeper Parker Rose returned from the concussion protocol and made nine saves.

Mona Shores (2-1) will be at home on Monday to kick off OK Conference-Green play against Byron Center.

Whitehall (0-3) will host North Muskegon for its first West Michigan Conference matchup of the season on Monday.
