GRAND RAPIDS – James Young and the Muskegon Big Reds football team had a field day in a crushing, 62-0, win over OK-Green opponent Grand Rapids Union on Friday.

The Big Reds led 48-0 after two quarters, ensuring a running clock for the remainder of the game.

Young racked up yards through the air by going 11-for-15 for 221 yards and five touchdown passes. 

Seven Big Reds’ ball carriers combined for a total of 271 rushing yards. Michael Piggee Jr. and Danelle Lawrence each had two touchdowns, while Recarder Kitchen, Keshawn Drummer, Lamar Bradford and Demetrius Rainey-Brown each scored a touchdown.

The defense limited Union to just 87 total yards.

La’Rue Phillips blocked a punt that led to a Charles Chatman 31-yard return touchdown. Chatman also pulled down an interception. Darekeo Speech, Amiere Chandler and De’ontae each posted seven tackles. 

Muskegon (2-3, 2-1) will host Reeths-Puffer for conference action on Friday.
