MUSKEGON – Ty’veonna Davis has been a dominating player for the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks’ basketball team this fall.

That was the case again on Saturday when Davis scored 32 points and led MCC to a 64-60 victory over Kalamazoo Valley Community College in a game played at Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.

Davis also had four rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in the Jayhawk victory.

Muskegon CC got off to a slow start with just 22 points in the opening half. The second half was a much different story as MCC poured in 42 points and claimed the victory.

Anna Lundquist added 11 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Kennedy Adams had seven points and three rebounds.

The MCC women’s basketball team hosted the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Cougars Saturday afternoon in their eighth game of the season.

“Very tough win tonight,” said MCC coach Jason Cooper. “We pulled out one in the end because Tyvi Davis had a great game. Overall, we need to get better as a team after this game, but sometimes you have to win ugly.”

The Lady Jayhawks play at home at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Madonna University’s JV team.
