FREMONT – The Fremont girls basketball team took down their second undefeated team of the season with a 68-23 WMC-Lakes victory over Montague on Friday night.

The Packers put pressure on out of the gate and outscored the Wildcats 14-1 in the first quarter. The full-court press continued and the Packers managed to hold the Wildcats scoreless midway through the second quarter with a 22-1 lead.

The Packers didn’t let up after the break and outscored the Wildcats 25-7 in the third quarter.

“I’m really proud of how hard our girls work,” said Fremont coach Pete Zerfas. “Their rotations on defense were fantastic and the pace of the game was in our favor.”

Three Packers had career nights in the dominating victory.

Riley Chase had 22 points, including 15 in the first half, and snagged seven steals. Taylor DeKuiper posted a double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and six assists, while Taylor Johnson scored 12 points.

“DeKuiper had another incredible all-around game and continues to prove she is the best sophomore in the entire area,” said Zerfas.

Mia Clemence played solid defense and ran the offense efficiently as the point guard. Clemence chipped in seven points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Wildcats’ Addison Pranger scored 10 points and Addie Peterson had five points.
