BRETHREN – The Pentwater boys basketball team managed to slow down Brethren’s inside game and picked up a 47-35 non-conference win Monday night in Brethren to stay undefeated.
The Falcons came out flat in the first quarter, but managed to work out of an early hole to close the gap to just one point, 12-11 at the buzzer.
Pentwater’s defense handcuffed the Bobcats in the second quarter, limiting them to just four points and went into the halftime break with a 27-16 lead.
Brethren hit three 3-point baskets to start the second half and climbed into a 27-27 tie with the Falcons. Pentwater pulled away at the end of the quarter to take build a 35-29 edge.
Mikey Carlson paced the Falcons offensively with 20 points, to whicih he added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Trey Johnson fired in 18 points, while claiming seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Jonny Arnouts led Pentwater with nine rebounds, dished out six assists and had four steals.
