NORTH MUSKEGON – Adam Dugener had a night for the North Muskegon boys’ basketball team Tuesday.

Dugener scored a game-high 38 points in leading the Norsemen to a 65-52 West Michigan Conference Rivers Division win over visiting Mason County Central. Included in his offensive outburst was a school-record nine 3-pointers.

The Norsemen remained undefeated at 13-0.

Dugener proved more than the Spartans’ man defense could handle, and showed why he is such a force for the Norsemen.

The Norsemen came out hot on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Spartans 20-9 in the first quarter.

Central came back to outscore the Norsemen 14-13 in the second, but still trailed, 33-13 at the half.

“We came out sluggish and got beat early on in transition,” said Central coach Chris VanderHaag.

But the Spartans did claw their way back to make it just a three-point game at one time, but the Norsemen shook off that rally.

The Norsemen had forged a 13-10 edge in the third to take a 46-23 lead.

Cole VanderHaag pumped in 23 points for the Spartans, followed by Peyton Merz with nine points and four rebounds, Trent Hawke with seven and Jaxon Munoz with four points and four assists.

North Muskegon maintained a tight lead over second-place Hart with a 7-0 record in the conference. The Norsemen travel to Hart on Friday.

Mason County fell to 8-6 on the season and 5-2 in the conference. The Spartans return to action Friday hosting Ravenna in another conference clash.
