MUSKEGON – The Grand Haven girls’ bowling team captured the team title at Saturday’s Fruitport Invitational at Northway Lanes.
The Bucs finished second to Sparta in the qualifying round then defeated Rockford to reach the finals against Sparta, the top qualifying team. Grand Haven then captured the title in two baker games.
The event was held at Northway Lanes and included 20 girls’ teams.
The Spartans were leading the way after three regular games and clinched top qualifying spot with four baker games. Sparta finished at 3,118 followed by Grand Haven (2,934), Rockford (2,918), Holton (2,689) and Reeths-Puffer (2,591). Fremont finished sixth, Orchard View was seventh, Oakridge was ninth, Mona Shores was 13th, Grand Haven B was 14th, Whitehall was 15th and Fruitport was 16th. Muskegon and Spring Lake did not have full teams.
