CUSTER – Finally, there was some relief for the Mason County Eastern boys basketball team Tuesday night.

Mired in a seven-game losing streak, the Cardinals benefited from some home cooking and a struggling Big Rapids Crossroads team to break through for a 62-16 blowout win in the West Michigan D League.

The Cardinals built a 28-9 halftime lead and coasted the rest of the way.

Jason Rogers paced the Cardinals with a game-high 19 points and Milo Shoup contributed 11.

Eastern moved to 4-11 on the season and 4-4 in the league. The Cardinals travel to Mesick for another league game next Tuesday.
